I don’t think this has as much relevance today.

Today the two problems with perception of AI seem to be (1) that it can do things it can’t (at least without a lot of extra work), (2) that it will take our jobs, and (3) that it will decrease the quality of life for more than it increases it.

The “tainting of things being AI because someone said AI” isn’t fully irrelevant, but it’s just so much less relevant, like a drizzle being compared to a raging thunderstorm.
